Relocating to the Island

Thinking of moving to PEI?

Every year, families and remote workers trade the big-city grind for Island life. Here’s the honest guide to buying here from away, what it costs, and a checklist to keep your move on track.

Can you even buy here?

Yes, and you don’t have to live here first.

You do not need to be a PEI or Canadian resident to buy most property on the Island. Larger parcels of land and shoreline can carry provincial approval requirements, so acreage and waterfront deserve an early conversation, but a typical home purchase is open to buyers from away.

What it costs to live here

Your dollar goes further.

Compared with Toronto, Vancouver, or Halifax, PEI home prices and day-to-day costs are dramatically lower, while you trade traffic and density for beaches, farmland, and a genuine sense of community. Many of our clients buy more home here than they could rent back home.

Healthcare & schools

Getting set up.

PEI has a public healthcare system with a patient registry for family doctors, well-regarded public schools, and UPEI and Holland College for post-secondary. We’re happy to point you to the right registration steps for your family.
